Start Where You’re Standing

(As seen in All Books Review International; Inspiration)

How many times have you said to yourself, “I’m going to do that when —- happens.” “I’ll be able to do that when I have —– amount of money.” “As soon as I finish —– I’ll start to do ——.”

Start Now!

What you probably don’t hear yourself saying is, “If I wait another day to begin my dream of ——, I may not have the good health, family support, and/or love of friends which I now I enjoy, to enable me to accomplish ———. I must not delay another day!”

Do you see the difference?

They key factor in getting your dreams, your goals accomplished, is starting in some way, large or small, right now where you stand. You must begin by beginning.

The goal you can control is to create motion in this moment. Make tangible the thoughts you envision, and your actions will provide all the momentum you need to give your inspirations life.

Here are six simple success tips, you can do right now where you stand.:

1. Write down your dream / goal.
2. List three steps you will need to complete to achieve this dream/goal.
3. Identify a mentor who has already accomplished this goal, or something similar to your goal.
4, Listen to one radio interview, or read one ezine with this mentor.
5. Make one phone call, or send one email/letter to accomplish one step in point #2.
6. Keep repeating.

You can literally do all six of these steps in under one hour, and never leave your house!

Your Feet are Your Friends to the End!

None of us is promised tomorrow. Don’t risk the opportunity to taste your delight today. The time is now.

Surrender your illusion “—-” is required to begin. Accepting you must start where you are already standing, is the very first step towards touching your dream in this moment.

Your feet are your faithful friends to the end!

Positive & Negative People – Are You Good Garnish?

Gotta’ love it!

That little jazz-of-pizzazz which delights the dish, sparkles the eyes with a surprise, and magnifies the meal in a moment. Yes, good garnish makes any ordinary dish extraordinarily spectacular in every possible way!

Good Garnish Makes the Dish!

Garnish - defined by Websters Dictionary is “to decorate (food) with something that adds color or flavor.”

This past week I was doing a radio show with host of the “Hatched Egg”, Amy Furbee, and we were talking about the issue of becoming who we associate with. Surrounding yourself with positive or negative people, definitely has an effect on YOU, whether you want it to or not.

Stand next to perfume or manure long enough,
and guess how you’ll soon be smelling?!

Suddenly, Amy interjected,

“It’s like my husband and I always say – Is that person Good Garnish?”

Are YOU Good Garnish?

WOW! I love that analogy – because it resonates truth beyond compare.

The people you chose to associate with, are either good garnish in a true blue right side up world, or distasteful wilted garnish in a green sky upside down world. You must decide what you will allow by your side.

A little bit of garnish, possess a powerful impact on what the whole plate looks like. Think about how just a little piece of something, makes such an enormous difference on the larger portion. Doesn’t the concept make you pause and reflect?

Next time you feel agitated around someone, or perhaps just a little confused, ask yourself, “Is this person”Good Garnish”in my life?”

You may decide you need a different ornament decorating your sustenance. If you’re plate is already full, adding even the smallest sour flavor could be a major killer tipping point which destroys your whole meal.

Who is Good or Bad garnish in your life today? Are you Good Garnish for the people you meet?

You are what you eat. Bon appetite… and Cheers!

Bon Appetite & Cheers!

Stepping into your spectacular guarantees happiness, because whenever you express your passionate desires, you are keeping the promise to be who you are authentically created to be.

There is no right or wrong to being you. Is your left leg wrong, and your right leg right? Or is it the right leg is wrong, and the left leg is right?

No, both legs are different for a reason, and you don’t argue with your feet as you walk to where you want to go. You accept that the differences in each leg assists you in getting to your desired location.

Stepping into your spiritual creative spectacular is much the same way.
You need all elements of your passions, dreams, and inspirations to help you move towards your greatness.

Your expression of this magnificence is as unique as your very own face. Happiness is a one-of-a-kind find, designed just for you.

If you have a nagging desire to accomplish some goal, (maybe finish that book?) accept this feeling is not going away for a healthy reason. You must take a step forward and place action behind the emotion. One small step leads to one greater, with more momentum to fuel the next.

Stepping into your spectacular is the most unselfish action you could ever perform. The world needs you.

GFMG Your Way to Happiness!

(As seen in Power Women Magazine; by Deb Scott)

I have often said there needs to be a 12 step program for everyone.

A way to live with more self-awareness, detachment, acceptance and peace. A place of resourceful strength able to effectively kill those negative liar voices, the ones who seek to steal the precious positive real estate in your head.

Join the Party!

How and why do the 12 step programs help achieve your happy dream?

Imagine the steps are more simply broken down into four quadrants, or four pieces in a larger pie, or strong spokes in a wheel.

GFMG:

>The first set of 3 steps are about; Giving up
>The second set of 3 steps are about; Fessing up
>The third set of 3 steps are about; Making up
>The last set of 3 are about; Growing up

When we give up control of any situation, we are open to consider things we don’t know.

Once we are open to new ideas, we can see our part in any given circumstance, and focus on the only thing we have any control over anyway, and that would be us.

Once we are open and aware, we naturally want to heal any wounds by making up with the gift of forgiveness. Forgiving ourselves, and the other person, whether they deserve it or not.

Eventually, the process naturally helps us grow up and live life, on life’s terms. We stop the never-ending battle of wishing things were different, and accept things are what they are, grateful we did the best we could at the time with the information we had.

Gratitude for having learned valuable wisdom for the present moment and unwritten future.

It’s all a process.

The 12 Steps:

1. We admitted we were powerless over (insert your problem) —that our lives had become unmanageable.

2. Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood him.

4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

5. Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

6. We’re entirely ready to have God remove our shortcomings.

7. Humbly asked him to remove our shortcomings.

8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.

9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.

11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood him, praying only for knowledge of his will for us and the power to carry that out.

12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others, and to practice these principles in all of our affairs.

Trees don’t grow twenty feet overnight, and neither does anything in the diamond of a person known as “you.”

GFMG is a winning equation you can always use to never lose!

CONGRATULATIONS! You're On Your Way Today!

ALL BOOKS REVIEW International ~ Highly Recommended! :)

“You don’t know, what you don’t know !”
“Simple? Yes. Easy to accept? No ! Deb Scott’s premise that “You don’t know, what you don’t know,” is the basis for transforming negatives into positives. It is the foundation for her book.
The Sky is Green and the Grass is Blue teaches readers to reverse their thinking; to turn all of life’s negativity into a positive, happy life. Starting at the beginning she convinces readers that help is just a step away. First and foremost you must open your mind and open your heart. Prayer is encouraged.
The author suggests that “going it alone” does not work. The book recommends several well-qualified organizations, at no cost to the member, that can help. The next step would be professional therapists and coaches and media tools, all practically listed and suggested. Numerous stories and anecdotes are included to make her point and provide entertainment.
Well organized, humorous, entertaining and yet, very in depth sensible advice, this book will be a great help to many people in conquering their fears and their past.”

A Review by Dr. Patrick A. O’Dougherty, out of the F. Scott Fitzgerald community of St. Paul, MN

“Brilliant!”

“Encouragement. Deb Scott should be encouraged. I come from a family of counselors. My mother, Patricia O’Dougherty, was a social worker on the charging team in Minneapolis. She worked with the women’s prison, alcoholics, and the Indian mothers. My father, James O’Dougherty, was an attorney who specialized in counseling. I have a counselor who specializes in counseling writers. I, first, sought counseling because I did not want to fall through the cracks in life. I am evaluating Deb Scott’s book not as a professional but as a consumer. Motivation. Motivation is one of the hardest topics to write about because it is very difficult to judge motivation. Actions speak louder than words. Writing a motivational book is quite an ambitious undertaking. Deb Scott maintains motivation should lead to action. This book review is an action, a defining point an outcome from reading the book. The strength of Deb Scott’s book is it is filled with prayers and profundities. It has exercises and a plan, focus and positive advice. It has religious themes without being preachy or proselytizing. I went to Washburn High School in Minneapolis. Dwayne Dwyer replicated the miracles of St. Francis of Assisi on the stage with the audience. I don’t think my high school physics teacher at Washburn, Mr. Requeway, could do this. Deb Scott is a replicable miracle. The kingdom of God is within. It is within you. It is within Deb Scott. Ironically, I made a teaching film which uses a similar exercise to the one Deb Scott does. My exercise is to spell your name with dots between the letters and then turn the letters of your name into a poem with another person’s name and then connect the dots and poems. Service. Get out of yourself is another profound piece of advice from Deb Scott. Surround yourself with motivational tapes, meditation and positive reinforcement. Advice I have found useful is to make a roadmap of your life and chart it. Gratitude. Count your blessings. Deb Scott’s advice, profundities and ironies are grace notes for new prescriptions in your life. I hope this review makes you feel new. Your book renewed my interest in your field. You want to change people’s thinking and lead them to do good. It is difficult to judge motivation. So, I won’t judge Deb Scott, rather accept. Brilliant!”

Motion Magic!

Does “getting there” sometimes seem impossible? A dream just a grasp too far to reach?

Maybe you want to: Boost your confidence; Get rid of depression; Manage healthier boundaries; Overcome Fear; Live happier.

One way you can always overcome the struggle is to get into motion. Why?

YOU Keep On Going!

Once you put the action ahead of the feeling, you will begin to create momentum towards whatever the goal is you seek.

Think of a car. When you are stopped in park, it is nearly impossible to turn the steering wheel and move the tires in any direction.

But, if you start the engine and begin to move the car down the highway, you are easily able to move the steering wheel and subsequently the tires, with the twist of your wrist!

Did the car change? Did you change? No. What did change?

The car was put into motion with you in it. The key ingredient which changed the equation was “motion.”

How can you apply this to your life towards attaining success in it? Get into motion towards your goal.

Write down on a piece of paper what the end result of the goal is. Not just what it is, but what it does for you that is an ultimate greater good.

For example; maybe you want to overcome your fear of speaking in front of a group so you can deliver your message better.  This in turn helps your audience understand more effectively, which in turn assists them in their implementation of the message. This is your purest ultimate goal.

If you had already achieved this goal,  who would you be associating with? What would you be talking about? When and where would you be doing these things?

Now you can write down what getting into motion would look and feel like, and begin by doing.

Perhaps your first motion is to speak in front of the mirror to yourself.  Then it may be speaking in front of a friend.  You may also want to watch a video of a speaker teaching you how to speak clearly and effectively.  You might sprinkle successful sabotage notes to yourself around your house, to keep the motion flowing.

Whatever it is, begin to get into motion doing it, and detach from the result.

Focus on staying in motion for a pre-determined time every day, and allow the process to unfold.

Motion is your  magic potion, and it tastes oooohhh so good!

Bon appetite!

$84,600.00 to be HAPPY!

So I was listening to one of those inspirational shows, and the question was posed:

“You have just been given $84.600.00 dollars to spend in 24 hours – what do you buy – what do you spend it on – do you spend it all – or leave a few dollars behind?”

Time is Money!

I really pondered what I would do with that. what about you?

Then.. the speaker really threw the curve ball…

There are 84,600.00 minutes in a day, and when the day is done, you can never get those minutes back – they are gone forever. So how do you SPEND all those priceless minutes in YOUR life? What are you doing with your time and life in those moments – because you don’t get them back. What an analogy!

Write it Down ~ Make it Happen

so..the question goes from me to you…What are you doing with your 86.400 second in a day?

YOU get your dreams to come true, only when you only give.

You only get back what you give in this life – that is the upside down turned right side up!

YOU!

So..what are doing with your 84.600.00 seconds here to be happy and make your dreams come true?

Post YOUR comment below, and tell us what YOU do with YOUR 84.600 seconds in a day to make a million!

Tribute to Mother On Mother’s Day

Turning The Upside Down of Death Into The Right-Side Up of Life Again…

Deb – read at mom’s (Rachel’s) funeral mass…

Immaculate Conception Parish, Newburyport (Fr. Richard Gosselin)Thursday; February 10, 2005

I am overwhelmed with a passage in the gospel of John, which describes the first miracle of our lord, at the wedding at Cana. He surprisingly saved the best wine until the end, and my mother, like that fine wine, grew into the best person God created her to be with each passing year.

We are born, we live, and we die. The dash distinguishing her life on this earth seems so small to the world, but so large in my heart.

My mother was beautiful mother, but I tell you my greatest loss is that of my very best friend.

A Mother’s Gift

She taught me to live in the present moment, trust God even when I couldn’t understand why he did the things he did, and trust that he would make everything OK in the end. She taught me forgiveness, tolerance, and inspired me to be the best person God created me to be. She taught me that love was an action word, that was expressed most beautifully by joyful sacrifice and humility. Her patience and ability to love someone for their good, and minimize their faults was unfailing, day after day after day after day. Her heart was embraced with a spirit of gratitude for every kindness, towards every person she ever met in her life.

A Tribute To Mother

In her battle with cancer, many cancers, from rectal, to liver and the indignities she suffered with the pain of her vaginal cancer, the rashes from her chemotherapy that riddled her entire body with Poison ivy like rashes, radiation burns, and all the rest, she fought. She fought for my dad and I. And when my dad almost died again this past summer (Fred from the dead nicknamed by many since he returned from so many hopeless cases), she continued to take care of home and family with grace and a positive attitude. She sacrificed herself for me and my dad and her extended family and friends without hesitation.

My moms heart was a wellspring of compassion. If you are here at this service, I would venture to say she has prayed especially for you. People she met, or only heard of being in need, she prayed for them by name. She prayed with her heart, deep, sincere prayers. She loved the prayer of her rosary and meditating on the life of Jesus and Mary, towards the end of how it helped each of us to accept Gods will for our lives, believing he always knew what was best for us.

The essence of her spirit [Read more…]
