A Simple Step for Infusing your life with a little bit of Magic

Guest Blog Post by Angela Lenhardt

angela imageI’ve always been fascinated with the classical fairy tale of Cinderella. Maybe it’s because as a 6th grader, I was chosen to play the lead role of being Cinderella in the school play; or perhaps it’s because I love the idea of enchanted castles and being swept away by prince charming. Regardless of whether or not these moments in time do come true— love, hope and happiness is the stuff dreams are made of.

Over the weekend, I decided to sit through the latest rendition of this magical tale. As I was being drawn into the life of a princess and the thought of never never land, I heard “this” inspiring message that moves beyond living happily ever after.

You see, when Cinderella was a young girl, her mother passed away. But prior to her death, she gave her daughter instructions on how to live her life. She said,

WOW! Imagine that! Have courage and be kind—Powerful words for building a magical kingdom based upon grace.

Courage is a necessary virtue when staring directly into the eyes of fear or embarking on an unpredictable venture. The act of “being” courageous furthers your quest of internal exploration in gaining a deeper understanding of Self; and challenges you to heal unresolved hurts and move beyond limited perceptions with curiosity and an open-heart. Courage is the binding agent that fortifies your vision with optimism, while remaining diligent when doing the task at hand.

It takes courage to apply unwavering strength in rising above today’s obstacles and making a life change. It takes courage to be kind to people who may not have earned such a loving gesture. And it takes courage to stand up and speak your truth, while setting an example for those who seem to need it the most.

So, as your life candidly unfolds while traveling down your path in the pursuit of happiness—remember to demonstrate courage and to be kind. Deciding to BE BOLD when confronting your greatest challenge is a courageous action–hardly established by those with the faint of heart.

With the inner knowing that you are a spiritual being having a human (and charming) experience, it’s possible to walk in faith; roar with courage; and have the awareness that each encounter is a stepping stone for uncovering the gift of being your Highest self.

The choice is yours. Exemplify magnificence in every situation; and trust that anything is feasible when you BELIEVE in just a little bit of magic.

Positive & Negative People – Are You Good Garnish?

Gotta’ love it!

That little jazz-of-pizzazz which delights the dish, sparkles the eyes with a surprise, and magnifies the meal in a moment. Yes, good garnish makes any ordinary dish extraordinarily spectacular in every possible way!

Good Garnish Makes the Dish!

Garnish - defined by Websters Dictionary is “to decorate (food) with something that adds color or flavor.”

This past week I was doing a radio show with host of the “Hatched Egg”, Amy Furbee, and we were talking about the issue of becoming who we associate with. Surrounding yourself with positive or negative people, definitely has an effect on YOU, whether you want it to or not.

Stand next to perfume or manure long enough,
and guess how you’ll soon be smelling?!

Suddenly, Amy interjected,

“It’s like my husband and I always say – Is that person Good Garnish?”

Are YOU Good Garnish?

WOW! I love that analogy – because it resonates truth beyond compare.

The people you chose to associate with, are either good garnish in a true blue right side up world, or distasteful wilted garnish in a green sky upside down world. You must decide what you will allow by your side.

A little bit of garnish, possess a powerful impact on what the whole plate looks like. Think about how just a little piece of something, makes such an enormous difference on the larger portion. Doesn’t the concept make you pause and reflect?

Next time you feel agitated around someone, or perhaps just a little confused, ask yourself, “Is this person”Good Garnish”in my life?”

You may decide you need a different ornament decorating your sustenance. If you’re plate is already full, adding even the smallest sour flavor could be a major killer tipping point which destroys your whole meal.

Who is Good or Bad garnish in your life today? Are you Good Garnish for the people you meet?

You are what you eat. Bon appetite… and Cheers!

Bon Appetite & Cheers!

“You don’t know, what you don’t know !”
“Simple? Yes. Easy to accept? No ! Deb Scott’s premise that “You don’t know, what you don’t know,” is the basis for transforming negatives into positives. It is the foundation for her book.
The Sky is Green and the Grass is Blue teaches readers to reverse their thinking; to turn all of life’s negativity into a positive, happy life. Starting at the beginning she convinces readers that help is just a step away. First and foremost you must open your mind and open your heart. Prayer is encouraged.
The author suggests that “going it alone” does not work. The book recommends several well-qualified organizations, at no cost to the member, that can help. The next step would be professional therapists and coaches and media tools, all practically listed and suggested. Numerous stories and anecdotes are included to make her point and provide entertainment.
Well organized, humorous, entertaining and yet, very in depth sensible advice, this book will be a great help to many people in conquering their fears and their past.”

A Review by Dr. Patrick A. O’Dougherty, out of the F. Scott Fitzgerald community of St. Paul, MN

“Brilliant!”

“Encouragement. Deb Scott should be encouraged. I come from a family of counselors. My mother, Patricia O’Dougherty, was a social worker on the charging team in Minneapolis. She worked with the women’s prison, alcoholics, and the Indian mothers. My father, James O’Dougherty, was an attorney who specialized in counseling. I have a counselor who specializes in counseling writers. I, first, sought counseling because I did not want to fall through the cracks in life. I am evaluating Deb Scott’s book not as a professional but as a consumer. Motivation. Motivation is one of the hardest topics to write about because it is very difficult to judge motivation. Actions speak louder than words. Writing a motivational book is quite an ambitious undertaking. Deb Scott maintains motivation should lead to action. This book review is an action, a defining point an outcome from reading the book. The strength of Deb Scott’s book is it is filled with prayers and profundities. It has exercises and a plan, focus and positive advice. It has religious themes without being preachy or proselytizing. I went to Washburn High School in Minneapolis. Dwayne Dwyer replicated the miracles of St. Francis of Assisi on the stage with the audience. I don’t think my high school physics teacher at Washburn, Mr. Requeway, could do this. Deb Scott is a replicable miracle. The kingdom of God is within. It is within you. It is within Deb Scott. Ironically, I made a teaching film which uses a similar exercise to the one Deb Scott does. My exercise is to spell your name with dots between the letters and then turn the letters of your name into a poem with another person’s name and then connect the dots and poems. Service. Get out of yourself is another profound piece of advice from Deb Scott. Surround yourself with motivational tapes, meditation and positive reinforcement. Advice I have found useful is to make a roadmap of your life and chart it. Gratitude. Count your blessings. Deb Scott’s advice, profundities and ironies are grace notes for new prescriptions in your life. I hope this review makes you feel new. Your book renewed my interest in your field. You want to change people’s thinking and lead them to do good. It is difficult to judge motivation. So, I won’t judge Deb Scott, rather accept. Brilliant!”

So I was listening to one of those inspirational shows, and the question was posed:

“You have just been given $84.600.00 dollars to spend in 24 hours – what do you buy – what do you spend it on – do you spend it all – or leave a few dollars behind?”

Time is Money!

I really pondered what I would do with that. what about you?

Then.. the speaker really threw the curve ball…

There are 84,600.00 minutes in a day, and when the day is done, you can never get those minutes back – they are gone forever. So how do you SPEND all those priceless minutes in YOUR life? Write it Down ~ Make it Happen

Dreams Keep You Happy !

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM?

Dreams keep our souls alive, fresh, in a state hope.

We all need to move towards our dreams to be truly happy.

Dreams of being, doing, changing, and experiencing, are all challenges to help us grow, and make the world a more loving place to live.

So, what is YOUR dream?

cottage by the seaThe Cottage by the Sea

I dream to live in the cottage by the sea.
Where the tender music of ocean waves kiss miles of sandy shores,

Singing joyful songs of loyal lasting love, trusting more with each kiss than before.

To delight in the delicious sweet colors of roses red, pink, and yellow,

Sparkling throughout the hillside, glimmering white crowns of Queen Anne’s Lace, dancing in the meadow.

The fresh salt air soothes the deepest wound hidden in my secret soul,

Seagulls flying gracefully, lifting my spirit in happiness to behold.

Peace, serenity, and innocence rejoice freedom in everything beside me,

God has created this lavish canvas of majesty, a sacred place to rest in the cottage by the sea.

Heaven shares her royal graces upon this finite place called earth,

This symphony speaks truth, inspiration, and a specific purpose for my birth.

Healing rays of sunshine rise to warm my body, mind, and soul,

Time has stopped quite perfectly now, the finest gift can never be seen or tangible to hold.

Yes, I dream to live in my little cottage by the sea,

Where I will be with my loving God, and He will be forever all the more glorious, with me.
