As seen in Best Ever YOU! Magazine

Make it Happen!

Okay, who doesn’t want to be their best? I mean really, anyone who wants to be truly happy, understands reaching your full potential is a prerequisite to being your BEST EVER YOU! Being your best naturally includes striving for excellence, living your passion, and achieving your personal goals.

What will accomplishing your goals do for you?

1. Increase your self-esteem.
2. Inspire daily living.
3. Make a difference in the world.

Setting goals is to be your very best, is the most unselfish act you could ever do. Why? Because when you are at your best, you are more likely to be an effective instrument to help others be their very best too.

3 Simple Steps to Achieving Your Goals

1. Create a Goal Mission Statement
Define your goal – and WHY you want to make it happen.

If you don’t know where you want to go, then it won’t matter what you do. You must have a clearly written goal complimented by the benefits resulting from achieving the goal.

“I want more more money,” is a goal, but not one you are sure to stay motivated in achieving if you don’t have the passion to power the momentum on a daily basis. Having more money is usually a byproduct of something else you are striving to accomplish.

“I want more money so I can do more marketing in my business to reach more people to inspire them to start theirs,” is a clearly defined goal with a mission statement.

Write down yours…

2. Visualize the Experience
How do you feel – Create the experience of achieving your goal.

Studies show your mind can’t tell the difference between a real experience and the one you imagine. It is critical you experience in your body, the feeling of achieving your dream in order to keep you focused in attaining the desired result.

New actions are inspired by the new feelings you want to experience. These new feelings are a result of new thoughts. You need to connect your goal to a feeling which is real for you. A specific tangible result.

Engaging all your 5 senses is a game changer. How do you feel? What do you see? What do you hear? Identify what is happening around you when you achieve the benefit of your goal.

In the example given above, this might look like, “A new client is approaching me in a sold out seminar event, enthusiastically thanking me for helping her move from fear to faith and start her own business.” Wow! I feel lighter than air!

Now your turn..

3. Sabotage Yourself for Success
Surround yourself daily with people, resources, and images which Inspire.

Consider this mind vitamin therapy to feed your whole soul. You must have discipline to take your positive energy, to remain empowered to follow your goal to completion.

Organizing your day to help you build your success in every way,is what this step is all about. Place pictures, affirmations, quotes, or any item which consistently ignites a feelingof excitement towards achieving your goal, in places your will inevitably visit throughout your day. A bathroom mirror when brushing your teeth in the morning, your car going to work, your computer, or even by your coffee pot. Wherever you know you will be going, or whatever you will be doing, is the perfect place for your successful sabotage reminder.

In the example we’ve been using, this might look like taking a magazine picture which reminds you of how it will feel to hear someone come up to you and tell you that you changed their life. It might be your favorite quote taped to your fridge which states, “If we don not change our direction, we are likely to end up where we are headed.”

What is your successful sabotage tool(s) and where will you place it(them)?

The Best Year of Your Life!

Get 2011 Right-Side-Up!

New Years.

That wonderful time of the year where the world seems to embrace you in universal encouragement to make a fresh start. Believe, dream big dreams, set goals your heart aches to achieve.

“Research shows that making resolutions is useful. People who explicitly make resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than people who don’t explicitly make resolutions.”

What’s the Benefit of Attaining Your Resolution?

What impact do you hope to inspire in those you love and work with in the months ahead? Who do you desire to become in the best version of yourself? What do feel like, look like? How does attaining your quest help others attain theirs?

Write it Down - Make it Happen

Studies indicate you are significantly more likely to succeed achieving your goals when you write them down. That being said, every January, I do exactly that. Creating categories to help me grow into full bloom, looks something like this:

Goals: Full Life – Full Year

1. Learn - A course, certification, seminar, or degree I aspire to achieve.

2. Retreat – A place scheduled to set my spirit alone for deep reflection.

3. Travel - A new place I desire to see, with new people to meet.

4. Volunteer – A contribution to help others just for the sake of doing it.

5. Body – A goal to schedule an activity to help me be fit and healthy.

6. Love - A desire to connect with family and friends in a deeper way.

7. Work - A new height for my business growth to make a positive impact.

8. Financial – A vision for abundance to support my dreams.

9. Spirit – An activity which helps me gratefully live in the present moment.

Of course, there’s always those subcategories for things like, “finish clearing out the stuff in the cellar.” I find most of these under the umbrella of the big picture goal to: get more organized.

10. Clear the Clutter - Where I live, work, and in my head!

A study in Psychology Today reports 3 Key components to help you succeed in keeping your New Years Resolution to completion.

1. Be Honest with Yourself.

2. Be Specific

3. Create a Support System

Take some time to reflect in a quiet place, where you can be freely inspired. You will feel the inner tug to expand your whole soul in a variety of ways which energize passion and purpose in your spirit. Promise!

The practical element to all of this goal setting stuff, is not only having determination, but some type of tracking and accountability system in place. You want to be able to measure and celebrate your progress, which fuels more forward momentum. This is a critical ingredient you can’t ignore.

Be Kind

“A  study at the University of California indicates kind acts improve overall health and the feeling of well-being due to the release of dopamine (the “feel good” neurotransmitter) in the brain, resulting in a natural high.”

Being kind to yourself and others, is the glue to make all your other goals stick secure.

New Habits – New Results – New Feelings

“With insights from positive psychology going back to William James’s 19th century essay Habits and continuing through recent research on will power, motivation, and goals, we can greatly increase the probability of successfully improving specific habits.”

When you set yourself up for implementing these new habits, you are automatically planting seeds for new results, which will then produce the new feelings of success associated with achieving your resolutions and goals.

Connect and associate your new habit with something else that you find pleasant to keep you motivated.

You’re Amazing

Happy New Year in Every Language

We are going to put words on them ourselves.
The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.”
